Definitely the coldest cruise we have ever done, but it was good to have the Trent open again and tomorrow there might be some cheerier weather when we carry on maybe to Gunthorpe.Hawton Waters offers a host of activities. I don’t think we realised just how cold we had got. Not good, so we pulled in just after Beeston and dived inside to warm ourselves. It was not to be though as I developed a rather bad headache and both of us were starting to shiver. A place we visited in 2004 and thoroughly enjoyed. Well we were actually going to go through Nottingham, back out on to the Trent to moor for the night at Holme Pierrepoint. Thanks for the company guys, we might catch you again later. Good speed though, can you imagine how beautiful this picture would be with some sunshine and blue sky, but it wasn’t too long ’till we reached Beeston Lock and back to the canal system for the trip into Nottingham.Ĭhris and Val decided to call it a day at Beeston. So on down the Trent we went in appalling weather, it was freezing with the wind dead against. It was difficult to see where I was going not only because of the visibility but the fact that the snowflakes were hitting my eyes snapping them shut for a few seconds until they recovered!Īs Chris worked the next lock at Cranfleet Sir and I whipped up the back canopy… phew that helped!… I started to get really cold with the heavy snow covering me. However I would need to reverse back to that point to wind (turn) again!.Ĭan’t get closer than that eh? I think I even beat Les and Jaq’s close one on his blog tonight. luckily I was right outside the Sawley Marina entrance so could swing there. I did try to reverse but such was the easterly wind it blew the bow of NP almost right round. It was a bit of fun having to back to pick up a Tesco order early this morning. Sawley to just short of Nottingham, River Trent and Beeston Canal, 7 ½ miles 2 locks ![]()
